Authorities have taken down a Brooklyn-based gun trafficking ring that allegedly funneled firearms from Florida to New York City.
According to investigators, more than 70 illegal guns were seized and eight people arrested, including Natasha Harris, one of the ring's alleged leaders.
They say Harris traveled from her Brooklyn apartment last month, with her two children and grandmother, to gun shows in Florida. Purchased firearms were then brought back to New York to be resold at a higher price.
The defendants are facing a number of charges, including conspiracy, criminal possession and criminal sale of firearms. Nearly all of them are facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
The bust was part of an undercover investigation that began this past spring.
