Two teenagers have been arrested for allegedly dousing a cat with lighter fluid in October and setting it on fire inside a Brownsville apartment.
Authorities say the two teens, 18-year-old Angelo Monderoy and 17-year-old Matthew Cooper, broke into a vacant apartment at a Union Street building and burned the cat.
The ASPCA recovered the injured cat, which had suffered fourth-degree burns. The cat, which survived the initial attack, later had to be put down because of its injuries, authorities say.
Monderoy and Cooper could face 25 years in prison if they are convicted, police say.
