They were placed in New Jersey’s conditional dismissal diversionary program, which permits certain first-time offenders to avoid a criminal record upon the completion of certain criteria, including serving a probationary period. PREVIOUS STORY AS FOLLOWS:

Police in Wayne say twin brothers have been arrested and charged on claims of sexual harassment and stalking after a female resident reported being harassed by them multiple times.

According to police on Aug. 29, a female reported she was walking in her neighborhood with her young child when she was approached by a male on a bicycle. The female reported the male stated that he was going to force himself on her sexually.

Police say the woman retreated to her home and called police. She stated she had experienced prior incidents of harassment involving the suspect, Ryan Kayal, and his twin brother, Daniel Kayal, 33, of Wayne.

Officers located Ryan riding his bicycle in front of his nearby home and attempted to interview him. He was evasive and uncooperative. Ryan attempted to walk away from police and ignored their commands to stop. He was placed under arrest.

Daniel then exited the home and interfered with officers by trying to open the police car door to free his brother. He was placed under arrest as well. Ryan was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Daniel was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction of the administration of law. Both were released on summonses in accordance with bail reform guidelines.

Police say on Sept. 7, the female resident was in the driveway of her home when Daniel swerved his vehicle into her driveway and whistled at her before driving off. The victim was in fear and called police. They responded and arrested Daniel. He was charged with harassment and stalking on a complaint warrant and was placed in Passaic County Jail.

Further investigation revealed the pair have been named in multiple incidents involving harassment toward multiple victims in the recent past. Anyone who has been the victim of unreported incidents of harassment by them is asked to call Detective Joe Cobianchi at 973-633-3541.
