Two men were shot early this morning in Brownsville. The incident occurred at around 1:08 a.m. on the corner of Sutter Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard.
The NYPD says a 64-year-old man was struck in the leg, while a 35-year-old man was shot twice in his leg and once in the arm. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital where they are currently recovering.
It happened outside Mannys Burger, Pizza, and Fried Chicken, which is located across the street from the Van Dyke Houses.
Police have not provided a description of the suspect and have not identified a motive for the shooting.
It's also not clear if the two victims know the person who shot them.
"I just feel bad when I hear about things like this in any neighborhood," one Brownsville resident told News 12 off camera.
While shooting incidents are down 9% since the start of the year citywide, according to NYPD data, the same cannot be said for the 73rd Precinct where the shooting occurred.
Shootings are up 33.3% in the precinct since Jan. 1. The data also shows this is the fourth shooting incident at this intersection so far this year.
The investigation is ongoing.
