A woman was fatally struck by a car in Prospect Park Monday morning.
It happened on the corner of Coney Island and Church avenues around 9 a.m.
Police say they found the unidentified 49-year-old laying in the middle of the street with injuries to her head and body.
Authorities say a blue Honda was heading west on Church Avenue when the driver tried making a right turn onto Coney Island Avenue and struck the victim before crashing into a brown Subaru SUV.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
This happened not far from Ocean Parkway, which is set to see safety improvements from the Department of Transportation.
Police say the drivers of both vehicles stayed at the scene. So far, no arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.
News 12 reached out to the DOT for comment.
Sources say the intersection saw 52 crash-related injuries from 2013-2017. They also say there were no fatalities at that intersection between 2013 and July 7, 2019.
Officials say they will review the location for possible safety enhancements.
