A man wearing an American flag bandana slashed a 53-year-old woman in the neck in Prospect Park South Thursday morning, police say.
The woman was walking near the intersection of Beverley and Rugby roads when the unprovoked assailant approached her from behind around 10 a.m.
Authorities say the suspect dropped two knives at the scene. Investigators recovered both of them, as well as the bandana and what appears to be the packaging from one of the knives.
Police say the suspect, described as 6 feet tall and wearing a hooded sweatshirt, fled on Argyle Road and remains at large.
Police say the attack does not appear to have been an attempted robbery.
The victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and is expected to be OK.
