Police say a woman was slashed across the finger by a man who attempted to sexually assault her in Prospect Park Wednesday.
It happened inside Prospect Park around 5:22 a.m. near Garfield Place and Prospect Park West.
Police say the 23-year-old woman was jogging when a man came up behind her and threw her to the ground.
The woman told police the man pulled out a knife and told her he was going to rape her.
Police say the woman resisted and a struggle ensued when the man eventually gave up and ran away.
During the struggle, police say the woman was slashed across her right finger. She was transported to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Police are still searching for a suspect, who was wearing a black sweatsuit.

No arrests have been made.
According to the NYPD's Fourth Quarter Park Crime Statistics, it is reported that from Oct. 1, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2015, there were seven major complaints reported, ranging from rape to grand larceny.
Borough President Eric Adams says joggers who run in the early morning and late evening need to take precautions when they run. He advises those runners to carry a whistle, avoid wearing headphones and to try running in public areas where they can be easily seen and heard by others.
Members of the jogging community say they will be extra careful and more aware of their surroundings.
