Like many other Brooklyn neighborhoods, Greenpoint, a long-time hub of Polish-American culture in New York, is changing.
A dwindling economy and increasing neighborhood living costs are sending many residents back to their home country, according to local travel agencies.
Statistics, too, show the Polish population in the area has dipped in recent years. Meanwhile, new businesses serving new residents are popping up next to those pioneers that have served the old population for the past several decades.
Business owners and locals also say they've seen Polish people leaving and taking some local businesses with them as the local landscape shifts.
