Politicians gathered to show their outrage Sunday over dredging at the Brooklyn Marine Waste Transfer Station that they say violates permit conditions.
They say a video of waste and sludge in the water shows that contaminants are being improperly disposed of in southern Brooklyn.
The New York City Department of Sanitation is requesting a change in the dredging permit that would allow dredging to proceed without any public review process.
City Councilman Mark Treyger wants a public forum to be held before the Department of Environmental Conservation is allowed to change the permit.
