Port Chester officials say they know their village needs more housing, so they're asking residents how they can meet that demand.
The village is partnering with Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, a nonprofit policy, planning and advocacy organization to conduct a housing needs assessment.
They'll be looking at current housing, what challenges people face living in the village and future development options.
The group held the first of three public hearings on the issue Monday where one resident says her landlord wants to evict her for someone who can pay more a month, but there aren't enough other affordable options for her to go to.
'Pattern of Progress' hopes to release its findings this summer.
