Hundreds of people were without power for several hours at Spring Creek Towers from Monday night into early Tuesday morning. The power has since been restored.
It was a long and stressful night for those who live in the towers, since many are elderly and use oxygen machines. The New York Fire Department says two people had to be treated for minor injuries.
Fire officials says they responded to Spring Creek Towers just before 2 a.m. Tuesday for multiple buildings without power. News 12 was told firefighters and EMS personnel had to go into each of the buildings affected and check to make sure no one was trapped in elevators. They were also checking on those residents who rely on oxygen machines to help them in whatever way they could.
The FDNY says power was restored to all the buildings around 2:40 a.m.
News 12 reached out to the management company on what may have caused this outage.
