A prayer vigil was held Saturday night in Kensington for the Flatbush man who was stabbed and killed while sitting in a Manhattan park last weekend.
People gathered at the Islamic Center to honor the life of 51-year-old Sala Miah, a deliveryman who was attacked and killed around 1 a.m. last Saturday.
Police released surveillance video that shows Miah blurred out and sitting on a bench in the Bowery with his bike, when the suspect comes up next to him and sits down.
Authorities say the two got into a fight over the bike, which the suspect rode off on.
Officials say when police got there, Miah had been slashed in the face and stabbed in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The people in attendance, which included NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, remembered Miah as hard worker who moved from Bangladesh just two years ago to try to make a better life.
While police say that they have arrested 23-year-old Joseph Sandoval from Queens and faces charges of murder, the pain is still deep for the people who knew Miah.
Miah leaves behind a wife and two kids who still live in Bangladesh and who Miah dreamt of bringing here to America.
