A new report claims that it's not difficult to smuggle items into the Rikers Island jail complex.

The city's Department of Investigations says an undercover investigator posing as a guard successfully sneaked contraband into six Rikers facilities on six separate occasions.

The posing guard was able to get through security with one plastic bag containing 250 envelopes of heroin, one plastic bag containing 24 packaged prescription drugs, two plastic bags containing a half-pound of marijuana, a 16-ounce water bottle containing vodka and a razor blade.

The report released Thursday also found that guards regularly placed lunches on top of X-ray machines, rather than through them, while correction officers often let each other enter jails even after setting off metal detectors.

The department's commissioner says jail officials have agreed to implement suggested reforms, including adding drug-sniffing dogs at checkpoints and placing trained security staffers in charge of screening.
