School may be out for the summer, but some children are still learning in a fun way.
Nonprofit Literacy, Inc., or LINC, encouraged children to read during a visit to the New York Transit Museum on Thursday. It was the final stop on a trip that began in the morning.
According to LINC, research shows that children living in poverty do not read enough over the summer, causing them to be behind when they return to school in September.
Each parent and student took home a bag of books to continue reading over the summer.
