Prosecutor: 2 charged in slayings of young brothers shot in Trenton home

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has charged two people with the murders of two young brothers who were fatally shot inside their Trenton home earlier this week.
Dajuan “Bando” Kelley, 26, of Ewing, and 29-year-old Destanie Ellis, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, were each charged in connection with the shooting deaths of 16-year-old Gustavo Perez and his 8-year-old brother, Johnny Perez. The brothers were standing inside their home on the 200 block of Mulberry Street when they were killed.
The prosecutor says on Oct. 20, a few hours prior to the shooting, Ellis and Kelley were sitting in a Ford Explorer when Gustavo Perez and his older brother walked by and tried to enter the vehicle. An argument ensued. Ellis then allegedly left the area in a second vehicle and followed the brothers to their home on Mulberry Street.
Authorities say that Kelley then arrived around 10:30 p.m. and shot into the second floor of the home, striking Gustavo and his younger brother Johnny. The brothers were taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The prosecutor’s office states that Ellis was arrested Thursday night in Trenton and that Kelley was arrested Friday in Hampton, Georgia.
The suspects were both charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of first-degree conspiracy.
