The 78th Precinct in Prospect Heights is showing its recognition of the hard work of crossing guards.
Crossing Guard Appreciation Day started last year when the Park Slope Street Safety Partnership decided it wanted a way to honor the men and women that do this job.
Dozens of guards received a certificate with comments from neighbors on why they do such a good job.
Organizers say this is currently the only precinct in New York City that officially commends crossing guards.
The Park Slope Street Safety Partnership hopes to convince other precincts to recognize the hard working crossing guards in their neighborhoods.
