Protesters are demanding justice tonight on the anniversary of the death of a Brooklyn woman who died in police custody.
Kyam Livingston died one year ago, but her mother says she still feels pain and anguish of losing her daughter.
People gathered to rally and demand justice for the 37-year-old outside Kings County Criminal Court in Downtown Brooklyn Monday.
Livingston was arrested in 2013 and spent several hours in Brooklyn Central Booking. Her family says that other inmates told them Livingston cried out for medical attention for hours, claiming intense stomach pain and diarrhea while she was in her cell.
She died in the cell.
Police say Livingston was drunk and was taken to Kings County Hospital before Central Booking.
Her family has filed a lawsuit against the city and are demanding a full investigation.
