Community members and elected officials rallied in front of the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office Thursday night to demand justice for Akai Gurley.
Gurley was the unarmed man who was shot and killed by a rookie NYPD officer last month in East New York.
The group was calling on the DA to charge the officer in Gurley's death.
The protesters also want a preliminary hearing to be held publicly to allow for more transparency in the case.
Assemblyman-elect Charles Barron says too many lives have been lost at the hands of the NYPD and that someone needs to be held accountable.
