Acting students at P.S. 264 in Bay Ridge took to the stage after a semester of history classes on the American Civil War.
Their lessons culminated with a musical that fourth- and fifth-graders performed and wrote by themselves.
Students spent about two months learning about the war. They then used that knowledge to write the show and wrapped up the last of their week of performances Monday.
This is the second year that students at the school have had the opportunity to write their own musical.
Faculty members say they've seen students benefit from the program and plan on continuing the new tradition.
