A group of middle school students hoping to beautify their community and educate others have painted a mural depicting the history of the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The students from P.S. 307 volunteered to paint the mural with artists from the Groundswell Community Arts Project and helped the mural from concept to finish. Roberta Davenport, the school's principal, says the project has given the students a new sense of identity.
Another of set of students will add to the wall throughout the summer, with additional scenes of the neighborhood's history.
