People are raring to head out for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend - but AAA says gas prices are not going to be cheap.
AAA predicts that 34 million Americans will be traveling by car this weekend, an increase of 52% from 2020 due to the pandemic.
With millions of Americans now vaccinated against COVID-19, AAA says people are getting back on the road - causing a spike in both gas prices and traffic.
Experts also say gas prices are still up partly due to an increase in demand after the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack earlier this month led to shortages across the East Coast.
The Department of Transportation says streets in the Bronx like Honeywell Avenue between East 179th and East 180th streets and East 239th Street between White Plains Road and Furman Avenue will be closed due to construction.
