A Queens man who officials say is in the country illegally pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and promoting prostitution in Nassau County.

Jorge Ramos, 55, admitted to a judge on Monday that he trafficked a victim at his home in Queens and at a hotel in Uniondale between November 2021 and November 2023, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.

"Sex trafficking can happen anywhere and to anyone, even in popular chain hotels in Nassau County neighborhoods," District Attorney Anne Donnelly said in a statement. "Jorge Ramos exploited these victims and threatened one of the women into compliance to keep her working for him in a life of prostitution."

Donnelly says Ramos trafficked the victim at the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale and threatened to expose a video of the victim to their family if she failed to engage in prostitution and assist Ramos in his prostitution business.

Ramos was arrested by the FBI Long Island Human Trafficking Task Force, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Nassau County Police Department's Narcotics Vice Squad on Feb. 20 after an extensive investigation that included surveillance and undercover work by law enforcement, according to Donnelly. The arrest came as he was transporting two women in his car to a Garden City hotel, where he reserved a room to have them engage in sex work.

Ramos is facing one to three years in prison and is due to be sentenced on Dec. 11. He will also be ordered to register as a sex offender.
