The principal of Rachel Carson High School on Coney Island was arrested following an investigation into her finances.
School officials removed Joanne Pierre from her position at the school in March pending the investigation. Schools investigator Richard Condon says Pierre is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars in reimbursements for items never purchased.
Charges against Pierre include grand larceny, falsifying business records and official misconduct. She could face up to seven years behind bars if convicted.
