Brooklyn residents are calling on the Adams administration and the Department of Transportation for what they call a faster and more reliable bus route along Flatbush Avenue.
Their top two concerns are the constant delays and unreliable service.
Two years ago, Mayor Adams rode the B41 bus that goes right along the Flatbush Avenue route. He pledged to help the community and called the unreliability 'unacceptable'.
On Tuesday, he pledged again when asked by the media to follow through on the community's expressed needs.
The DOT, another organization that those at Tuesday's rally are holding accountable, say they too are trying. They told News12 that they would be in favor of a Flatbush Avenue bus lane and would consider conducting studies in support of it.
Riders Alliance and The Pratt Center for Community Development say they donot plan on waiting for that. Starting Tuesday, the two advocacy organizations released a survey for fellow riders to take.
The two local organizations say the hope is that they will collect data and paint a thorough picture of what bus riders encounter on their commutes. Organizers plan on presenting this data to Both the Adams administration and the DOT this fall.
