A judo dojo is teaching students how to defend themselves without throwing a single punch.
"We really don't have striking," says Chris Halbal, one of the partners of Bronx Judo. "We do throwing techniques. We do pinning techniques. We do choking techniques and control and submission techniques."
Halbal says judo is a great cardiovascular workout and a great weight lifting workout. Instead of lifting weights, they lift people.
Classes range from ones designed for beginners to Olympic athletes.
The dojo has belts at young as four to 90 years old.
