Stamford is known for being home to many big businesses. You can see plenty of high-rise buildings from the highway, but what about the small businesses in between?

News 12's Alexa Farrell looks at how work from home trends have impacted businesses.

Michael Marchetti, the owner of Columbus Park Trattoria in downtown Stamford, says there is a difference when people commute to work versus working from home.

"We definitely see an uptick in business when people are back in their office," says Marchetti.

When people opt to work from home Marchetti says there is a drop in the numbers.

Larry Hoffman's wife owns Whim in Stamford. He says it has really helped having people back in the offices.

Both Hoffman and Marchetti say they have both seen changes over the past few years due to the pandemic.

Caleb Silver, of Investopedia, studied the change in traffic habits. Ridership in Connecticut today compared to before the pandemic is up over 100% for bridges and tunnels, nearly 70% on the subway and 67% for Metro-North.
