Every Saturday Latino food vendors spice up Red Hook Park but vendors fear they could lose their place now that bidding has been opened to all vendors.
The 30-year tradition of cooking in Red Hook, bringing Latin American flavors to Brooklyn, started as families gathered in the park for soccer games.
Cesar Fuentes, Executive Director of the Food Vendors Committee of Red Hook Park Incorporated, wants to carry on the tradition. ?We are about Latin America. We are about exploring the different flavors and treasures of the culinary experience of Latin America,? he said.
Vendors offer a variety of food from different Latin American countries including Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
?New York has so much to offer that way. So many different foods and flavors around,? said Brooklyn resident William Bird.
