Forget range-of-motion exercises, a Bronx rehab center is using video games to help patients with their injures.
The Workmen's Circle MultiCare Center in Baychester is using the Nintendo Wii, a popular video game system with motion-sensitive controls, in the rehabilitation of some patients, especially seniors.
Some patients feel that traditional rehab exercises become repetitive and boring. They say using the Wii, which can require similar body movements, is more fun and takes their minds off the pain.
Patients recovering from strokes, broken bones, surgery and even combat injuries are taking advantage of the novel rehabilitation method.
