The remodeled Brooklyn Children's Museum officially welcomed visitors Saturday with a festive grand opening.
After a $49 million renovation, the newly constructed addition has a petting exhibit, an imaginary pizza shop and an African market.
For 2-year-old Chelsea Williams, it was her first time to the Brooklyn Children's Museum, a moment her mother Joanna has long anticipated.
Officials say it is the city's first green museum, with bamboo and recycled rubber floors that work with other features to keep the building sustainable. The solar tiles on the museum, all eight million of them, are tested to withstand the most extreme weather conditions.
