Renovations have started on a food pantry that serves the Fairview community.
The Franciscan Community Development Center had crumbling floors. The building will be renovated thanks to the Archdiocese of Newark and Habitat for Humanity.
“To see people coming together, to see how the community rallies when there’s a need for help, it’s really beautiful. It gives me faith,” says Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur.
The new food pantry will have new floors, a handicap-accessible bathroom and new refrigerators. Officials say it will be complete by Thanksgiving.
