Many mayors across Nassau County say they have not heard from Rep. George Santos despite the congressman's claims that he is hard at work for constituents
On Thursday, Santos tweeted, "While the media continues obsessing, I have co-sponsored four bills, two bills in the making, hired staff in D.C. and New York, set up one of two district offices, visited with constituents, taken meetings with mayors in the district - the mob will not distract me."
The tweet was later deleted, but according to Congress.gov, Santos has co-sponsored three bills and signed on to two resolutions.
News 12 reached out to every mayor in Santos' district and not one who responded said they had heard from Santos.
The Nassau County Village Officials Association, which represents all 64 villages in the county, said it hadn't heard from Santos either.
East Hills Mayor Michael Koblenz says he is concerned because the Republican congressman has not shown up in his village or even reached out over the phone.
"He has not contacted us," Koblenz said. "We have no congressman as far as I'm concerned."
The mayor says they are still hoping Santos will call because the village has pressing matters on airplane noise that need federal attention.
Santos did show up to a Hindu temple in his district in New Hyde Park.
Officials at the Sarvamangala Shri Saneeswara Temple of NY say Santos' visit on Tuesday was unannounced and he stayed for a cleansing service.
Sridhar Shanmugan says Santos said he wanted to come and pray, and, in their religion, everybody is welcome.
News 12 reached out to Santos' office for comment and has not heard back.
