Before you take a bite into your next meal from the corner eatery, be careful. According to a published report, thousands of the city's restaurants haven't been inspected in quite some time.
Many city restaurants have gone up to 18 months without a visit from a Department of Health inspector. The department requires yearly inspections.
According to the New York Post, about 20 percent of the city's eateries haven't been inspected since July 2007.
Inspectors may have to work overtime in an attempt to inspect every eatery in the city before next June.
Attempts to reach the Department of Health for comment were not successful.
