The company hired to clean a Williamsburg bowling alley following an Ebola scare last month is unlicensed for biological waste cleanup.
According to published reports, the state permit for the Bio-Recovery Corporation, which cleaned The Gutter, expired two years ago. A report also claims that Sal Pane, a convicted felon and mortgage scammer, posed as a cleanup expert.
A spokesperson for the Health Department said in part that it "vigorously reviewed all of Bio-Recovery's cleanup work, and determined it was successfully performed, and that there were no public health risks."
It added that the city was unaware of the past history of Pane, and that Bio-Recovery will not receive future work until a review is complete.
