A report has found that low-income Brooklyn students are getting shortchanged by their school. The special commissioner of investigation found in the last three years, students eligible to take advanced placement exams for free weren't reimbursed by Brooklyn Tech. The students were charged $52 and the school kept the fees, which totaled around $13,000. The commissioner recommended solutions to the education department to avoid this problem in the future. Officials say no one was stealing the money. They say school personnel didn't take the time to track down the students. The Department of Education released a statement saying that they will make sure schools that receive such grants will reimburse the students.
