Straphangers are being warned to stay alert following the release of a new MTA report that shows a major spike in subway crimes.
The MTA says overall crime was up 11 percent in April, compared to the same time last year. Robbery on the rails is also up more than 27 percent and felonies jumped more than 18 percent.
According to police, nearly 300 robberies have been reported since January of this year. They say the biggest targets are riders with electronics, especially those who doze off during their commute.
