Some Crown Heights residents are braving the cold outside and inside after they claim radiators inside of their apartments on Park Place have not been working properly.
Emlock Grant said he and a few of his neighbors have filed complaints with Housing Preservation & Development, called 311 and even traveled to the management office to share their concerns.
“It’s not even warm in the house, not even the radiator. And I call up the management a lot of times. I went to the office to see if there was going to send somebody to take care of the heat, and they never did," shared Grant.
According to NYCHA, the Park Place apartment building is part of the Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT). Fairstead is the property management partner responsible for maintenance within the building.
Velma Lewis and Annette Bryant Grant’s neighbors. They said they have also had difficulty reaching out to management and getting their heat fixed in their apartments.
"I went there more than once and left a complaint. I was given a complaint number at one time. I asked for it, and they gave it to me, and still nobody came," said Lewis.
"If you feel the radiators in the lobby and hallways, they're warm. But the radiators in your home, there's no heat," Bryant explained.
The residents said they are now relying on space heaters and ovens to warm up their homes.
1630 Park Place Property Management Team later emailed a statement.
“Our residents are our highest priority. We are committed to ensuring comfortable conditions for our residents throughout the winter and beyond and have addressed this inquiry as soon as access was provided,” officials with the management team wrote.
But Grant shared in his case that's far from true.
“Nobody don't care, you know? And that is the issue that I have. You know, my skin is pained sometimes with a cold, you know, and nobody's responded," shared Grant.
