Fast drivers and blind spots on Hicks Street have become a danger for Cobble Hill residents, and the Department of Transportation is willing to help them do something about it.

People have to step out into the busy street to see if traffic is coming due to a blind spot and a broken walking sign. "Sometimes, cars don't come at all, so you want to go and you have to stick out your head and see if they are coming or not," said Selita Masaguer, who has lived in the area for three years.

Dangerous drivers, residents say, have caused recent accidents in which cars left the road and hit fences and other cars. Parents say they're especially concerned because P.S. 29 is right down the block.

Last week, the Department of Transporation met with residents to tell them how to request speed bumps.
