A proposed rezoning along Coney Island Avenue is drawing concern from residents who fear the project prioritizes development over community needs.
The City Council’s Subcommittee on Zoning is currently reviewing an application that would allow for a 10-story mixed-use building at 2510 Coney Island Ave., a site that currently belongs to an auto repair shop.
Designs by Autograph Architecture show a modern structure with both residential units and retail space.

“Actually, I would like more parks for the kids and maybe more activities,” one resident told News 12.
The auto repair shop’s manager says he supports redevelopment and is prepared to relocate his business if the project is approved.
No final decision was made at Monday’s subcommittee meeting.
A vote is expected in the coming weeks.
