With temperatures reaching scorching levels, some Brooklyn residents went outdoors Sunday to take advantage of one of the warmest days so far this summer.
Bicycle riders, joggers and walkers were out and about at Prospect Park. Others laid down in the grass to soak up the sun's rays.
Many say after that after such a long, brutal winter, they're welcoming the heat.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the city on Sunday. Residents were urged to stay hydrated.
The city has opened cooling centers that will be available through Monday.
