Residents in Grand Concourse are concerned over a subway grate they fear is likely to collapse.
Residents say the grate at East 183rd Street and Grand Concourse gives way to only minor pressure and may collapse at any time, possibly injuring or killing a pedestrian.
Community activist Sydney Flores says he has been calling 311 and the MTA for months trying to get them to fix the issue.
The MTA says that it believes that a vehicle drove over the grate, damaging it. The agency says it will install a barricade to prevent people from stepping on the damaged grate.
