(10/02/06) BAY RIDGE - Residents say Owl?s Head Park in Bay Ridge has begun to smell terribly and they demanded Monday the city do something about it.
Residents in Bay Ridge say they are very upset with the unbearable smell coming from the Owl?s Head water treatment plant. An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) spokesman says when the sewers become overloaded, as they have since the last week of August, the smell gets much worse.
Construction will begin in May on a building that will help limit the odor, according to Community Board 10. Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-New York) has promised that before he leaves office the building will be completed.
