Dozens of tenants in a Brownsville apartment building joined together Thursday to demand their utilities be restored.
Residents of 702 Rockaway Ave. say they have been without electricity and gas for up to a week because the landlord has not paid the Con Ed bill.
Residents say that rising temperatures have made living in the building difficult, as many depend on electrical equipment for medical reasons.
Building owners say they leased the building out to Handcheikh Investments, who have been collecting rent from tenants. Building owners say the group has not paid their share back to the building owners, which now totals over $120,000.
There is no word when the residents will have the utilities back on.
