6h agoBronx residents at Parkchester South Condominiums claim they have been without a working elevator for six days and counting.
They say the elevator at 1530 Archer Road is the only elevator in the building.
Residents tell News 12 that the elevator was initially closed on Feb. 11 for a routine inspection. They say the inspection quickly turned into a need for emergency repairs.
This resulted in the elevator being out of service until further notice.
Each floor in the building is separated by 14 steps, so residents who live on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors say getting to their apartments can be a task.
News 12 followed David McMillan to his seventh-floor apartment and the 62-year-old was out of breath when reaching his floor.
Residents also tell News 12 the elevator issue is causing a major problem for those trying to protect themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic.
McMillan says since an out-of-service notice was posted last week, he has seen no work being done to fix the elevator in the building.
