Citizens braved pouring rain on Sunday to protest the city's plans to turn part of Coney Island's wooden boardwalk into concrete.
Protesters chanted, "Boardwalk, not sidewalk."
Some residents and elected officials say replacing the boardwalk with concrete takes away part of Coney Island's history.
Many on Sunday said they would like to see the boardwalk repaired with wood, and that they will continue to put pressure on the Parks Department and Mayor Bill de Blasio until it happens.
The iconic boardwalk runs from Brighton 15th Street to Coney Island Avenue.
