Residents rallied in front of the 75th Precinct in East New York Sunday to call for the firing of an officer they say assaulted a 66-year-old woman and her granddaughter.
The incident occurred during a dispute over car music volume during a block party, according to Shameik Webb. Webb says the officer tried to issue him a summons. He says the officer ended up punching his grandmother. He says a girl and another man who tried to intervene were also assaulted.
Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn) led the rally. He says police brutality is becoming widespread and something needs to be done about it. Barron says he will continue to rally, next time in front of the district attorney?s office, until something is done.
Police say they cannot comment on the incident, but say it is under investigation.
