Residents will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in Fort Greene during their version of the Sundance Film Festival, a well-known annual event that features the world's best filmmakers.
Actor Robert Redford announced the new partnership with BAM on Sunday. The academy will play host to the east coast version of Redford?s famous festival with a weeklong program, scheduled from May 11-20. Redford?s Sundance Institute trained artists whose passions centered on filmmaking. BAM?s director says many of those artists are from Brooklyn.
The program is named ?Creative Latitude? because Brooklyn shares the same latitude as Park City, Utah, home of the Sundance Film Festival.
