The recent string of child abuse cases in Brooklyn and the city has many people blaming the mothers for not protecting their children. Domestic violence experts, however, say many times the mothers are victims as well. They say child abuse and spousal abuse often go hand in hand. Family counselors say often the mothers of child abuse victims feel trapped in their homes by an abusive partner.
