This comes as several ZIP codes around the city are seeing a rise in new COVID-19 cases. One of the neighborhoods where cases are most visible is in Midwood, where 8% of those coming in to get tested are testing positive. Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the region a cluster. It is the third highest in the state after Rockland County and the highest in the city.
Officials say they will be really taking enforcement seriously in these regions and particularly when it comes to indoor dining.
The police department has also been handing out masks and patrolling some of the neighborhoods with hot spots. Those areas include Sheepshead Bay, Borough Park, Gravesend, Throgs Neck and Parkchester.
