A renovated skate park at McCarren Park in Greenpoint has reopened to the public.
Axel Short, a skateboarder, says the new layout has improved a great deal since the last overhaul in 2009.
Nike funded the $315,000 facelift, which includes more features for skaters to do tricks and is safer, Short says.
Proponents say the skate park is a good way to keep young people out of trouble.
