There's a new place to charge your electric vehicle in the city.
Revel cut the ribbon today for the grand opening of its largest, fastest EV charging superhub in the country. The electric charging station and 24 others are ready to be used. Employees from Revel and Con Ed say it's a way to give New Yorkers and those visiting the city a chance to easily charge up in a central public location.
For a week, it won't cost a cent. Just 10 minutes of charging will give you about 100 miles to hit the road.
Both Con Ed and Revel worked together to make this a reality. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm also made an appearance, telling News 12 installing these stations was a necessary step in order for more New Yorkers to make the switch from gas to electric clean energy.
Any electric vehicle can charge at the hub, whether it be a moped, an e-bike or a car. News 12 was told filling up electronically compared to gas is about the same at $2 a gallon.
